Hi guys and dolls, check out my new tutorial on my Youtube channel, Gold Beauty. Enjoy - don’t forget to support by commenting, rating and subscribing! :)
Hi everyone! I’m so excited - I just uploaded my very first makeup tutorial on my Youtube channel! It’s a video on how to get ready with refreshed look when you’re in a hurry. Let me know what you guys think and don’t forget to support by subscribing :)
So… You’re in a rush and you don’t have much time to get all of your makeup on your face. I don’t know about you but when I’m out and about, I want to make sure that I look awake and refreshed as possible - I know and understand what it feels like to be rushing to work or wherever and you still look like a sleepy zombie! Eek!
Here are the tools you will need to give your face an “effortless, healthy glow” - you can put this in a small makeup bag to make it easier for you to grab:
-tinted moisturizer or mineral foundation
-eye cream
-concealer
-eyebrow pencil
-cream eyeshadow - in shade(s) close to your natural skin tone
-mascara
-cream blush
-tinted lipbalm or lipgloss in neutral tones or shades of pink
These products are optional:
-eyebrow definer brush
-eyebrow gel
-eyelash curler
Here’s an example of my daily essentials kit:
By the way, you don’t HAVE to use the exact same products as the ones I’m using here. These are from my personal collection that I personally love and work best for me.
1. So let’s start with prepping our face:
Always start off your face cleansed and makeup free. I use a gentle oil-free makeup remover on a cotton pad or cotton ball to remove not only any leftover eye makeup I may have missed but it also has lash conditioners that are going to help my lashes stay soft and less brittle. I cleanse my face with a cleanser that works best for my skin type (combination) and it removes everything from foundation to dead skin cells from my face down the drain.
It’s very important to moisturize your skin after cleansing. Our skin is unable to produce it’s own water so it produces sebum (oil) to balance moisture and prevents the skin from drying out. For those who have combination or oily skin it’s frustrating and an unpleasant feeling as it leads to acne and pimple breakouts. When using moisturizer be sure to find one that works best for your skin type and will not clog your pores.
Since we are getting ready to go out the door, I use a tinted moisturizer. I find it convenient to use this because not only does it moisturize my skin but it also has tints of beige to blend in with my natural skin tone - it’s formulated for buildable coverage so I can add as much as I need without clogging my pores. This moisturizer is anti-aging and has SPF 20 so it’s going to protect my skin from the sun’s damaging rays.
If you don’t have tinted moisturizer, you may finish with a mineral foundation after applying your moisturizer. Foundation (whether it’s mineral, liquid or cream) is actually not just part of your makeup routine but it is the last step for your skincare! Not only will foundation give you the coverage that you want for even skin complexion but it will help to moisturize your skin (if liquid or cream). It will also protect your pores from any tiny particles called free radicals from seeping in which may also lead to breakouts.
2. Now let’s brighten our eyes:
The skin around our eye area is about 70% thinner than the skin on the rest of our face, so we have to be very gentle as to not cause early signs of fine lines and wrinkles. Since the eye area is thinner it doesn’t lock in moisture as easily. When applying eye cream, concealer or anything else on your eye area, use your ring finger because it’s the most gentle finger on your hand without adding additional pressure.
I use an anti-aging eye cream to help my skin stay moisturized daily. After warming the product between my ring fingers, I gently pat (not press or tug!) along dark areas under my eyes and on my eyelids. When you pat, you are helping increase blood flow from the dark areas to flush to the rest of your face, hence your eyes looking more awake.
While my eye cream sets I start filling in my brows with a brow pencil. Use a color that blends closest to the natural color of your hairs. I like to fill my brows using an upward motion starting from the middle outward to help my brow hairs stay up and in place. You may shape your brows using a brow brush as well and if you have brow gel, apply that to the hairs to keep them in place.
Now we’re ready to use our concealer - thank goodness for that! If there is one piece of makeup I wouldn’t live without, it would have to be concealer. Concealer is used to hide what we don’t want to see: dark circles, acne scars, pimples, dark spots, etc. Our dark circles have hints of blue and purple so to neutralize the colors, use a concealer that is at least 2 shades lighter than your natural skin tone has has either yellow or orange tints. I apply my concealer not only on my dark circles but also on my eyelids, dark areas on my skin and for hiding redness around my nose and mouth.
Next we’ll brighten our eyelids with cream eyeshadow with a shade that is close to your skintone. I like to use cream eyeshadow because it’s quick and it moisturizes my lids at the same time. Here I use a pearly pink to brighten the shadows that my glasses casts when I wear them.
If you have an eyelash curler, curl your lashes to have your lashes appear more open. If not, you may move on to mascara and it will lift your lashes and have them appear full and luscious. For fuller lashes, start adding mascara from the base of your lashes and brush upwards. If you like to add mascara to your lower lashes you may do so.
3. Adding color to the rest of your face!
You want your face to look as though it’s refreshed with a natural glow. For your cheeks, use a cream blush and blend. You want your cheeks look as though they have been gently pinched. For a dewy glow, you can use a cream blush that has small gold flecks in them to give your cheeks a subtle sparkle. If you don’t have cream blush, mineral blush works just as well.
Last but not least is adding color and moisturizing your lips! If your lips are chapped, you can exfoliate the dead skin cells quickly by applying a lip mask. After giving your lips a clean palette, apply your favorite lip gloss or tinted lip balm to give your lips a pop of color while at the same time preventing your lips from drying out. If you prefer to use regular lip balm, you may use that as well.
And now you’re done! You’re ready to take on the day looking refreshed. :) This only takes a few minutes to do, but it’s enough to enhance your face for that effortless healthy radiance.
Thanks for reading and watching my video! Look out for the next one soon!
xoxo,
~Reiko

Mary Kay is my way to beautiful this summer… and always. <3
From now on I have to vow that I will go by these rules:
-Worry and think less.
-Stop doubting myself. And others.
-Believe in the ones I love.
-Believe in myself.
-Keep busy… but not to the point where I drown.
-Continue to be generous. If you think you’ve been generous enough, then it’s still not enough.
-Take that leap of faith.

Mary Kay “Berry Kiss”-able lips? I think so. :) I love my Mary Kay business <3
